Paul Anderson is an accomplished Chief Executive Officer with over 25 years of experience in healthcare, specialising in regenerative medicine, medical devices, and cellular therapeutics. As the founding member and CEO of Orthocell Ltd (ASX: OCC), he has a proven track record of translating innovative research into commercially successful products that address significant unmet clinical needs. Paul’s expertise spans regulatory strategy, product development, funding acquisition, and manufacturing scale-up. He has a strong track record with his previous board position with Verigen Australia Pty Ltd, a human cell therapies company. Renowned for his entrepreneurial leadership and strategic insight, Paul combines technical excellence with a strong focus on ethical innovation and value creation. Through his vision, Orthocell continues to develop transformative technologies that enhance patient outcomes while driving growth and employment across the life sciences sector.

Kate Bones has devoted more than 25 years to advancing healthcare quality improvement, partnering with health systems, hospitals, primary care and community organizations to achieve better outcomes for patients and populations. She has extensive experience leading large-scale improvement collaboratives and capability-building programs across diverse healthcare environments and cultural contexts throughout the United States, Australia, South Asia, and beyond.

Originally trained as a social worker, Kate holds a Master of Social Work and began her career working directly with individuals, families, and communities. This foundation continues to influence her approach to improvement today, bringing a strong focus on relationships, human-centered change, collaboration, and understanding healthcare systems through the experiences of those who receive and deliver care.

Currently a Director at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, her work spans a wide range of clinical and operational priorities, including maternal and newborn health, mental health, workforce wellbeing, care coordination, and system-wide quality improvement. She has a particular interest in making improvement science practical and accessible, helping frontline staff and leaders understand and apply complex concepts in ways that resonate with their daily work.

Adam Lloyd is Assistant Director General - Chief Digital Officer at the Western Australian Department of Health, responsible for digital strategy, investment and assurance across the WA health system. He is Senior Responsible Owner for its largest digital programs, including the statewide Electronic Medical Record, and chairs the Department's Data and AI Council.

Adam has over two decades in the WA health system, across both digital and clinical operations leadership. As Chief Data and Analytics Officer he established WA Health's first cross-HSP business intelligence and real-time data platform. As Area Director Virtual and Community Care at EMHS he led HIVE, Australia's first AI-enabled inpatient remote monitoring service, and its extension into community, home and regional settings.

He is an inaugural member of the WA Government's Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board. His current focus is a coherent enterprise approach to digital, data and analytics across WA Health, and the governance and culture needed to adopt AI safely, transparently and on evidence.

Dr Lesley Bennett is a senior executive clinical leader with extensive experience leading large, complex health services and driving system‑wide improvement across Western Australia. She is currently Deputy Director General, Clinical Excellence, where she brings together strong clinical credibility with strategic and operational leadership.

A practising physician, Dr Bennett has more than 12 years’ experience in executive roles within the WA health system while maintaining clinical practice. She has held senior leadership positions including Chief Executive of the East Metropolitan Health Service and Executive Director of the Royal Perth Bentley Group, as well as multiple senior clinical governance roles in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Dr Bennett is recognised for her leadership in clinical governance, safety and quality, workforce wellbeing and service transformation. Her work has focused on improving patient outcomes, enabling clinical leadership, strengthening system integration and supporting the transition to more contemporary, person‑centred and community‑based models of care. Her leadership style is collaborative and influence‑based, with a strong emphasis on engagement, co‑design and continuous improvement.

Meet our Facilitators

Steve is an experienced Health Manager with over 30 years in public and private healthcare sectors across a variety of roles. Steve practiced as a radiographer before moving into the leadership role of Director of Medical Imaging across 10 Imaging facilities.

The subsequent role of Divisional Director for Critical Care and Perioperative Services in a large regional Health Service included accountabilities for Emergency Care, Intensive Care, Surgical and Perioperative, Medical Imaging and Allied Health services.

Steve holds Bachelor’s and Master’s qualifications from the Queensland University of Technology.

Commencing work for the Health Roundtable in 2017, Steve is the Program Director for the Finance & Costing, Imaging, Surgical Journey, and Allied Health Programs, and is the Health Roundtable Lead for Events.

Dr Pam O’Nions is a registered nurse and healthcare leader whose 40‑year career has been dedicated to driving positive change and innovation within the healthcare sector. Pam holds a Master of Nursing (Paediatrics), a Doctorate focused on nurse retention, and further qualifications in Education, Business, Leadership and Clinical Governance.

Pam served as Strategic Health Partner for the Health Roundtable supporting executives and clinicians to use benchmarked data to drive improvement and innovation. She is a Fellow of ACHSM and a non-executive director on the boards of SwanCare, CPE Group and the Australian College of Children and Young People’s Nurses.

Pam is passionate, energetic, and committed to improving healthcare outcomes for all.

The Innovation Stage and Innovation Breakout Room will be facilitated by a cross-section of members from Innovation Teams across WA Health Service Providers (HSPs).

Bringing together people who work at the forefront of innovation across the health system, our facilitators bring a diverse range of experience, expertise and insights. Collectively, they support teams to explore opportunities, challenge the status quo, turn ideas into action and share learnings that can contribute to better outcomes for patients, consumers, staff and the health system.

Working collaboratively across HSPs, our facilitators have curated an engaging program across the Innovation Stream, bringing together a mix of presentations showcasing innovations happening across WA Health and interactive, hands-on experiences. Together, the sessions provide an opportunity to discover new ideas, explore innovation in practice, share experiences and connect with others who are driving change across the health system.
